Kiesha Battles

Kiesha Battles, E-RYT 500, RPYT is a full-time Yoga teacher and trainer who has studied under the tutelage of Maya Breuer.  Kiesha earned a graduate degree in Asian Studies with a certification in International Business with a focus on Asian humanities of philosophy, religion, and modern language. It is through her academic studies whereshe was exposed to East Asian philosophies (Taoism and Buddhism), Indianphilosophies (Hinduism), and the science of Yoga.  Kiesha has taught for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte for seven years at multiple locations and was a R.O.S.E. Award Recipient.  Kiesha has been featured as a teacher in the book Yes Yoga Has Curves, on the Black Yoga Teacher Alliance website, and Pride Magazine.  Kiesha has written articles for Yogasteya and Nourrir online publications.  Kiesha is trained in a variety of styles of yoga but specializes in Yin Yoga with a Meditative focus of going WITHIN.


In 2016, Kiesha was honored as an inaugural Self Care Charlotte Ambassador.  In her role she promotes the principles of self care for the purpose of nurturing healthy lives and relationships for individuals, families, and communities in the City of Charlotte.


Kiesha also co-founded Yoga in Action Charlotte, a group of Yoga Teachers and practitioners united to build community through yoga and service.  Kiesha is also an active member of the Black Yoga Teacher Alliance.  She is now co-director of the Yoga Retreat for Women of Color offered bi annually at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.


Kiesha lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband and two school aged boys.
