The Time Is Now!

When I was pregnant with my first child I so enjoyed reading children’s books to my baby !

It became part of my weekly routine. I would look forward to finding a new book,My favorite was “Ten Tiny Toes” written by Todd Tarplay and illustrated by Marc Brown.

As a first time mom, I had many apprehensions and this quiet one on one time brought me so much peace, relaxation and bonding.

When my daughter Olivia was born, I continued to read to her each night. It continued to be my favorite time of the day.

When she was old enough to walk, we would go to the pond near our home to feed the ducks and turtles. Reading books somehow shifted from reading stories to telling stories.

I started telling a story about Toby the turtle. After my second child, Owen was born, we had a baby bunny hang out in our yard. The nightly story adventure evolved and included a sweet baby bunny known as Daffodil. As Owen started to demonstrate a love for legos and building with an imaginative little mind he asked me to tell him a story about a Robot. I’ve been saying for as many years as my kids were born I should write a children’s book where all the proceeds go to kids impacted from various circumstances, cancer, rare diseases, mental illness, autism, and life struggles. During the bedtime routine, brush your teeth, go potty, crawl into bed, say your prayers, it’s night night kids, Owens says, mom when are you going to write “the book”. The time is now!!!!

Children's imaginations are vibrant .Everything amazes them, and they truly think anything is possible. They experience life with a sense of newness and unbridled curiosity.

As I begin the process of exploring my creative side and pursuing my desire to write and illustrate a children’s book. I hope you will follow me in keeping your imaginations vibrant, know that anything is possible, that you have a gift and the gift that you can give the world is to share your gift.

Thank you Olivia and Owen for your motivation, and reminding me to pursue my dreams I’m so grateful God has blessed me with these beautiful, unique and amazing gifts. Namaste! Light and Love, Julie
