Q.My favorite thing about the CFYC community is?
CFYC is a warm and inviting space to come practice and grow.
Q. Why do you practice yoga?
I practice yoga because of the beautiful GIFT of space and freedom (presence) that it continues to offer to me mentally, physically and spiritually.
Q. Why do you teach yoga?
I teach to share with others the GIFT that I have received through the practice of yoga.
Q. How would you describe your teaching style? What can students expect when they come to your class?
I would say that my true desire is to connect with others. My "style" is a subtle, yet powerful approach to vinyasa flow. In each class, the creation of an experience is cultivated by the students I teach and emphasis comes from my own personal practice. Strong emphasis is placed on integration and alignment. Students should expect to feel "successful" within their practice, not based on performance, but found through the precision of movement and breath cultivated throughout the practice. My desire is that my students leave feeling better than when they entered and carry the experience they created on the mat with them "off the mat".
Q. What is your advice to people who understand the health benefits of yoga, and would like to start a practice or practice more often, but have difficulty finding time?
It's a matter of quality over quantity. Often we get caught up with the idea of "productivity" and that we must practice for lengthy periods of time in order for our yoga practice to be beneficial. Taking a few quality moments to link movement and breath, along with moments of stillness, accessing our "being" will provide profound benefits even when time is limited.
Q. What are your hobbies or pursuits in addition to yoga?
In addition to yoga, I love spending time with my family and friends, watching my three boys play the sports they love, camping, reading, travelling, sewing, and being creative.
Q. What is your favorite quote?
"Yoga finds its relevance when it can impact the way we are moving through life." ~ Rolf Gates
